Kenya. Former Judiciary Chief Registrar,Gladys Shollei did not appear in court on Tuesday to take plea over procurement irregularities concerning the construction of Mavoko law courts.
Principal magistrate Felix Kombo said the former Judiciary Chief Registrar, who is not in Nairobi, will take plea on January 12, 2016.
Seven other former senior Judiciary officials denied abuse of office charges and were granted Sh300,000 cash bail or Sh1 million bond.
They include former deputy registrar Kaikai Kissinger, former supply chain management director Martin Okwata and former finance director Benedict Omollo.
The others are former legal counsel officer Nicholas Okemwa, transport officer Nicholas Mbeba, former ICT director Thomas Atak and accounts controller Wycliffe Obunde
The seven were accused of awarding the tender for the construction of the courts to Timsales company without following procedure leading to the loss of Sh18.3 million in public funds.
They allegedly committed the offence in Nairobi county on January 17, 2013.
Kissinger is facing a separate charge of facilitating the improper payment of a 50 per cent down payment equivalent to Sh150 million to Timsales company for the construction of the courts.

He allegedly committed the offence in February 2013 without permission from the tendering committee.
